FAQ

Here are the most frequently asked questions I receive about EFT.

This is designed to be an approachable resource, not a definitive guide.

Keep in mind the views expressed on this site reflect my opinions and experience only, and do not speak for other practitioners or the wider EFT community nor provide or replace medical advice.

The best resource I can recommend is EFT international, the global not-for-profit organisation that is advancing the standards of EFT.

More resources for different aspects of EFT are shared below.

  • “EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a self-applied stress reduction technique using elements of cognitive therapy, while physically stimulating acupuncture points on the hands, face and torso.

It is often referred to as ‘Tapping’ as it uses a two finger tapping process on known acupuncture points that sends signals to the brain, calming the nervous the system.

EFT can be help with a wide range of issues, working simply by focusing on the problem/ discomfort you would like to address with an acceptance statement, along with a simple tapping technique.

Research, including randomised clinical trials and meta analyses has established effectiveness for phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, physical and emotional pain and more.”

I would also highlight the distinction between the two main ways in which EFT is used:

    The Basic EFT recipe
This is the equivalent of an emotional first-aid-kid, great to have on hand to work immediately, on a surface level. It is what you get from tap-along Youtube videos or following a script eg. for a headache.

This is not to be confused with the deeper work clients come to qualified, accredited EFT practitioners for. We have an array of tools and techniques we can reach for in any given moment to serve the client’s benefit, often working very deeply. This extends far beyond the scope of the basic EFT recipe.

This type of deep work is not safe to do on oneself or others without the correct training. This is why it is vital to seek the assistance of a qualified, accredited practitioner with valid credentials. This is a gentle but incredibly powerful technique that requires the utmost care, and when handled correctly can move mountains within a client’s landscape and work quickly and efficiently to get to the heart of an issue by bypassing the cognitive level, working directly with the subconscious programming that drives our daily lives, thoughts and decision-making.

I am speaking from personal experience when I say, once you get tapping and get a taste of how it can change your life, you really never want to stop!

  • One of the greatest barriers to the acceptance of psychotherapies that stimulate acupuncture points by tapping on them, such as EFT and TFT, has been a persistent question: How does tapping on the skin lead to psychological change?

For decades, practitioners have known that therapies and self-help approaches involving tapping on acupuncture points are unusually fast and effective, but articulating a clear, science-based explanation has been challenging.

Over the past two decades, researchers such as Dawson Church, Peta Stapleton, and David Feinstein have steadily advanced the evidence base through peer-reviewed studies.

In November 2025, Mr Feinstein published a landmark synthesis of this research which Nick Ortner translated into a beautifully designed, 10-page illustrated infographic.

You can read and even download the infographic in pdf format here.

  • I can only answer with accuracy by understanding each individual client’s story and what they are seeking help with. This is exactly what the consultation is for. It is 30 minutes, it is cost and obligation free. In person or on Zoom.

I would have to say, I don’t think there is a single person on the planet who wouldn’t benefit in a very tangible way from practicing EFT.

  • This question is answered in detail on the ‘Meet Fruzsi’ page.

I get candid about my personal health history which played a pivotal role in me becoming an accredited EFT practitioner, and finding that I am not only very passionate about this, but also have a lifelong skill-set that has set me up extremely well to do this important, heart-led work.

  • An average session lasts 75 - 90 minutes. The set rate of $160 per appointment.

On average, following the free consultation, clients come in for a Discovery Session (up to 90 minutes, $160) where we get really clear on what we will address in short series of sessions (eg. chronic gut issues or fear of public speaking with a significant event looming on the horizon), and set goals for ourselves which are often surpassed sooner than anticipated.

As you’ll read through many of the client testimonials, discernible change occurs within the space of the first few sessions (usually spaced a few weeks apart), and most often we do up to five or six sessions by which time the issue is dissolved.

Some clients choose to go on their merry way after this, while others want to then move onto another significant hurdle in their life, having recognised how much of a game-changer EFT is!

For example a client may do a series of six sessions on physical issue, and upon resolving that we move onto the next important issue which for them may be financial troubles or figuring out a particular pattern in their romantic relationships that gives rise to the same scenario every time.

  • No, the client taps on their own body, mirroring me as I tap on myself. They tap where I tap, and repeat the words I say. A couple of clients have commented that they love this aspect of their EFT sessions. It’s like a Pilates class, they don’t have to think of the words, I guide them and they follow, but they reap the benefits! (This is really simplifying a more complex process to keep things easy for now.)

This is why sessions also work over Zoom, and why EFT is so brilliant - your tools (your fingers, mind and body) are always with you. Help is just a tap away.

Only in some special cases would I tap on the client, mainly if they have difficulty tapping on themselves on account of physical limitation, nerve damage etc.

  • Both! Currently I offer in-person sessions only on Saturdays from a cozy office in the Epworth Building at 33 Pirie Street, Adelaide, South Australia.

Mid-week sessions are available via Zoom and can accommodate timezone differences with clients around the world.

I am currently working on offering group sessions in person and online. Please join my mailing list to keep abreast of those exciting developments.

  • Yes I have a concession rate, please add this to the box when making first contact for an initial consultation.

  • It is important to get your information from a reputable source. Among the world’s best in Australia’s own Dr. Peta Stapleton. She is a clinical psychologist and leading researcher in EFT. In this short video she covers a lot of the basics of EFT through a scientific lens and discusses some of the cutting edge research that is happening.

This next video is produced by The Tapping Solution, called ‘The Science Behind EFT Tapping: 7 Powerful Ways That EFT Tapping Can Transform Your Life’ you get a clear break-down of how EFT can approach a variety of issues from sleep, to stress, relentless food-cravings and more. Watch it here.

Lastly, my favourite ever EFT production is a short doco called ‘The Tapping Solution’ on Youtube. If you scroll down this page you’ll find I embedded it with a short summary of what you can expect and why it’s worth watching.

It offers an intimate glimpse into how most clients come to EFT - not really knowing how it works or how it can help, only that they are facing an issue they aren’t able to overcome by themselves. And watching them transform through just four days and having lasting, life-changing results. It’s beautiful.

  • At the top of the page you’ll see the heading ‘Let’s Get Started’. I invite you to fill in your details and a short few lines about what brings you in and I’ll be in touch within a few days about booking in a consultation.

A real-life mini-doco about EFT

The Tapping Solution is a short documentary filmed in 2007 in the USA where ten people were offered a four day retreat to tap on a specific, acute issue that they had been unable to treat, heal or resolve after trying just about everything.

This includes a woman with fibromyalgia, a Vietnam War veteran, folks with chronic pain, trauma, problems with anger and more.

Their journeys are documented here as they go from never having heard of EFT, to tapping 1:1 and in groups with expert EFT practitioners and letting the healing happen by releasing long-held old weights, traumas and stories about themselves.

At the end there is a six month reunion showing the long-lasting, life-changing benefits they enjoyed as a result of this retreat.

Fun fact: One of these people has gone on to become a master EFT practitioner and author, with this modality having so fundamentally changed her life… I know the feeling!
